Why Residential Proxies Matter

Residential vs. Datacenter IPs for Ecommerce Scraping

Datacenter IPs originate from cloud hosting providers and server farms, making them trivially identifiable by anti-bot systems. Major ecommerce platforms maintain databases of known datacenter IP ranges and block them outright. Residential IPs, by contrast, are assigned by real Internet Service Providers to home and mobile devices, making requests from these addresses indistinguishable from genuine consumer traffic. For reliable product data extraction at scale, residential proxies are essential.

Geo-targeting is equally critical for ecommerce data collection. Prices, product availability, shipping options, and even product catalogs vary by region. A product listed at $49.99 in the US might be priced at EUR 59.99 in Germany or unavailable entirely in Japan. Without city-level proxy targeting, businesses miss these regional pricing differences and availability signals. Our network enables precise geographic targeting so your AI-powered extraction pipeline captures location-specific data accurately.

Effective IP rotation goes beyond simply cycling through addresses. Sophisticated anti-bot systems correlate request patterns across IPs, detecting when a cluster of residential IPs exhibits bot-like behavior. Our rotation strategy coordinates with browser fingerprint masking to ensure that each IP presents a unique, consistent browser identity -- matching timezone, locale, and language to the proxy's geographic location.

How It Works

From request to response, optimized at every step

01

Request Routing

Your scraping request enters our network and is routed through our intelligent load balancer that selects the optimal proxy path.

02

Geo Selection

Based on your targeting requirements, the system selects a residential IP from the specified country, city, or ISP pool.

03

Smart Rotation

IPs are rotated intelligently based on target site behavior patterns, ensuring requests appear natural and avoiding detection.

04

Data Delivery

The response is captured, validated for completeness, and delivered back to your system with full metadata and status reporting.

How Residential Proxy Networks Enable Reliable Data Collection

Residential proxy networks route web requests through IP addresses assigned by internet service providers to real household devices, making the traffic appear identical to that of genuine residential users browsing the web. This distinction from datacenter proxies is critical because most sophisticated anti-bot systems maintain databases of known datacenter IP ranges and will immediately block or challenge requests originating from those addresses. Residential IPs, by contrast, carry inherent trust because they are associated with legitimate ISP customers and geographic locations. A well-managed residential proxy network distributes requests across millions of these IPs, ensuring that no single address generates suspicious levels of traffic while providing geographic diversity that enables accurate collection of location-specific pricing and content data.

The quality and reliability of a residential proxy network depend on several technical factors beyond raw IP count. Session persistence allows a single IP to be maintained across multiple sequential requests, which is essential for navigating multi-page workflows like product searches with pagination or checkout flow analysis. IP rotation strategies must balance between rotating too frequently, which can trigger session-based detection, and rotating too infrequently, which risks rate limiting on individual addresses. Geographic targeting accuracy ensures that requests are routed through IPs in specific countries, states, or cities, which is crucial for collecting localized pricing data or accessing geo-restricted content. Network health monitoring continuously evaluates IP reputation, response times, and success rates to automatically remove compromised or slow-performing addresses from the active pool, maintaining consistently high data collection reliability. Residential Proxy Network FAQs

Common questions about proxy sourcing, geo-targeting, sticky sessions, and bandwidth pricing.

Datacenter proxies originate from server farms and are easily identified and blocked by anti-bot systems. Residential proxies use IP addresses assigned by real ISPs to home and mobile devices, making them appear as genuine user traffic. For ecommerce scraping, residential proxies have dramatically higher success rates against sophisticated bot detection systems.

Our residential IP network is built from consented peer-to-peer networks where device owners have explicitly opted in to share unused bandwidth in exchange for compensation. We do not use malware, botnets, or any unauthorized device access. Our sourcing practices comply with applicable data protection and network regulations.

Yes. We support targeting at country, state/region, city, ZIP code, ISP, and ASN (Autonomous System Number) levels. City-level targeting is available for most major urban centers worldwide. ISP targeting is useful when a target site shows different content or pricing to users from specific carriers.

A sticky session assigns the same IP address across multiple sequential requests for a defined duration (configurable from 1 to 30 minutes). Use sticky sessions when scraping tasks require maintaining state — such as logging into an account, navigating multi-page checkout flows, or browsing a site where the server tracks session continuity.

Our AI monitors response codes and content signatures in real time to detect when an IP has been flagged or blocked. Blocked IPs are immediately retired from the active pool for the affected target, a fresh IP is selected, and the failed request is automatically retried. This happens transparently with no disruption to your extraction job.

Bandwidth is unmetered and unlimited on all DataWeBot scraping plans. You are never charged based on data transferred. Your plan cost is determined by the number of requests, data volume extracted, and update frequency — not by how much bandwidth your requests consume through our proxy network.

An ASN (Autonomous System Number) is a unique identifier assigned to a network operator, such as an ISP, cloud provider, or enterprise. ASN-level proxy targeting lets you route requests through IPs belonging to a specific network operator. This is useful when target websites serve different content based on the visitor's ISP, or when you need to avoid IPs from specific networks that are known to be flagged by anti-bot systems.

A rotating proxy automatically assigns a different IP address for each request, while a backconnect proxy provides a single gateway endpoint that internally routes traffic through a rotating pool of IPs. In practice, the terms are often used interchangeably. The key distinction is that backconnect proxies manage rotation server-side, so the client always connects to the same address and port while the exit IP changes transparently behind the scenes.

IP reputation scoring is a system used by anti-bot services to assign trust scores to IP addresses based on their historical behavior. IPs that have been previously associated with spam, scraping, or malicious activity receive low reputation scores and are more likely to be blocked or challenged. This is why fresh, high-reputation residential IPs are critical for scraping — they have no negative history and appear as ordinary consumer traffic.

SOCKS5 is a general-purpose proxy protocol that operates at a lower network layer than HTTP proxies, making it protocol-agnostic. While HTTP proxies only handle HTTP and HTTPS traffic, SOCKS5 proxies can tunnel any type of TCP or UDP traffic. SOCKS5 is preferred when you need to proxy non-HTTP protocols, require UDP support for WebRTC or DNS, or want to avoid the proxy modifying request headers, which HTTP proxies sometimes do.

Geo-fencing is the practice of restricting or customizing website content based on the visitor's geographic location, determined by their IP address. Ecommerce sites use geo-fencing to show different prices, product availability, shipping options, and even entirely different catalogs by region. Residential proxies from specific countries or cities allow you to view the exact content a local consumer would see, bypassing these geographic restrictions.

Proxy chaining routes a request through multiple proxy servers in sequence before reaching the target website. For example, a request might pass through a datacenter proxy first for speed, then exit through a residential proxy for stealth. This adds layers of anonymity and makes it harder for target sites to trace the original request source. The trade-off is increased latency, since each hop adds network round-trip time to the overall request duration.
