Backend Engineer, Jobs API and MCP

Own the API and MCP server that AI agents call: async extraction Jobs, credits, rate limits and the reliability behind every result.

Remote, Asia time zones preferred · Full time

What is datawebot

datawebot gives AI agents ecommerce product data. Through one MCP server, an agent can search products across online shops worldwide, list each seller's price with a direct link to the shop, and run extraction Jobs on Amazon and Shopify stores. Anyone can sign in for free by approving an email.

Try it before you apply: connect your agent in a few minutes, or read about datawebot.

The role

Agents reach datawebot through an MCP server and a Jobs API: submit URLs, get a job ID, poll, and read structured results. You will make that path fast, predictable and cheap to run as traffic grows, across Cloudflare Workers at the edge and the extraction services behind them.

What you will do

  • Design and ship features in the Jobs API and MCP server, from new tools to clearer errors that agents can act on.
  • Own queues, retries, timeouts and rate limits so long jobs finish and failures are explained.
  • Run billing logic for credits and wallets correctly, with tests for every charge path.
  • Add the metrics, logs and dashboards that show job success rates and cost per page.
  • Review blueprint pull requests for performance and safety.

What you need

  • Four or more years building production backend services in TypeScript, Python or Go.
  • Experience with queues and async job systems, and with SQL databases.
  • Experience running services on a cloud platform such as Cloudflare, GCP or AWS.
  • Care about API design: versioning, idempotency and errors a caller can understand.
  • Clear written English.

Nice to have

  • Cloudflare Workers, D1 or Durable Objects.
  • ClickHouse or another columnar store.
  • Built an MCP server, OAuth flows or developer-facing APIs before.
