Ecommerce analytics tools: 16 picks, sorted by the job they do

Ecommerce analytics tools do four jobs: store analytics, marketplace research, competitor price tracking and data APIs. Pick the job first, then the tool.

Ecommerce analytics tools fall into four groups that answer different questions: analytics for your own store, research tools for marketplace sellers, competitor price and digital shelf monitoring, and raw data APIs you build your own analysis on. Choose the group that matches your question first, then compare tools inside that group.

A store analytics tool cannot tell you a competitor's price, and a price tracker cannot tell you why your checkout conversion fell. This guide groups 16 tools by job. Prices are the entry prices each vendor publishes on its own site, checked on 14 October 2026. Where a vendor does not publish a price, we say so.

What are the four kinds of ecommerce analytics tools?

Group Question it answers Data it uses Typical buyer

2. Marketplace seller research What sells on Amazon or TikTok Shop, and how much? Marketplace listings plus the vendor's sales estimates Marketplace sellers, affiliates
3. Competitor price and digital shelf monitoring What are competitors charging, and how do my products show up on retailer sites? Competitor and retailer product pages Retailers, brands, pricing teams
4. Ecommerce data APIs and scrapers Can I get the raw product data and build my own analysis? Product, price, review and seller data returned as JSON or files Developers, data teams, AI agents

Shopify's pricing page lists "200+ real-time reports, plus custom analytics" on all four plans, with Basic at US$25 per month billed monthly or US$19 per month billed annually (US prices shown on 14 Oct 2026; Shopify may show other prices in other countries). Pricing: the URL-based Professional plan is US$99 per month for up to 100 products. A 14-day free trial needs no credit card. API access costs an extra 20% of the subscription. Source

How do you choose the right ecommerce analytics tool?

If your question is... Choose from Start with
Where do my visitors come from and why don't they buy? Store analytics GA4 (free); Shopify Analytics if you are on Shopify
Which ad channel really drove this order? Store analytics with attribution Triple Whale
What should I sell on Amazon? Marketplace research Jungle Scout or Helium 10
What is trending on TikTok Shop, and which creators sell it? Marketplace research Kalodata or FastMoss
What do my competitors charge for the same products? Price monitoring Prisync (published prices) or Price2Spy
How do my products rank and look across many retailers? Digital shelf analytics DataWeave or Profitero
I need Amazon data in my own database or agent Data API Rainforest API or Canopy API
I need data from many different sites Data platform Apify or Bright Data
I need a Shopify store's catalog as JSON or CSV Data API datawebot

Three checks apply in every group:

  1. Know where the numbers come from. Store analytics measure your own data. Marketplace sales figures from third-party tools are estimates. Treat them as direction, not accounting.
  2. Price your real volume. Monitoring tools price by products tracked; APIs by request, record or credit. Estimate a month of usage before comparing entry prices.
  3. Check coverage first. Run a free trial on the exact products and sites you care about.

Where does datawebot fit?

datawebot is a data tool, not an analytics dashboard. It turns supported store URLs into structured product and variant records for people and AI agents, so you can feed the data into your own spreadsheet, database or analysis. It has an HTTP API with an OpenAPI spec and an llms.txt for agents (connect your agent). Today, store extraction works for Shopify stores only; see the Shopify product data API page. New accounts get 100 trial credits with no card required. If you need attribution, marketplace sales estimates or a ready-made pricing dashboard, the tools in groups 1 to 3 above are the better fit.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best ecommerce analytics tool?

There is no single best tool, because the four groups answer different questions. For your own store, GA4 is free and works on any platform. For Amazon research, Jungle Scout and Helium 10 are the common choices. For competitor prices, Prisync and Price2Spy are built for that job. For raw data, choose an API that covers the sites you need.

Is Google Analytics enough for ecommerce?

Google Analytics covers traffic, funnels and conversions on your own site, and Google describes it as free. It does not show competitor prices or marketplace sales. Tools such as Triple Whale sell multi-touch attribution as a separate product.

What is the difference between an ecommerce analytics platform and a data API?

An analytics platform gives you finished reports and dashboards. A data API gives you the records, such as products, prices and reviews, as JSON or CSV, and you build the analysis.

How do competitor analytics tools for ecommerce get their data?

They read publicly visible product pages on competitor and retailer sites, match the same product across sites and record changes over time. Ask each vendor how often data refreshes and how they match products.

Are ecommerce analytics tools free?

Some have free tiers: Google Analytics, Triple Whale's Free plan, Apify's Free plan, Bright Data's Web Scraper API free tier and Canopy API's Hobby plan. Several others offer free trials, including Prisync, Price2Spy, Kalodata and FastMoss. Enterprise digital shelf suites such as DataWeave and Profitero do not publish prices.
