## Separate single spices, blends and sets

Burlap & Barrel’s catalog spans individual spices, blends, gift collections and a subscription. Keep each catalog item distinct, then attach its named spice or blend, selected package or set option, and observation date. A multi-spice collection is a parent set with member products; it is not one large spice package, and a recurring subscription is not the same offer as a single jar.

| Catalog item | Fields to keep together | Comparison rule |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Single spice | Product title, type, source URL or ID, selected package, amount and unit. | Keep the spice identity separate from the jar size, label and current offer. |
| Blend | Blend name, source-listed ingredients, selected package and any stated process or heat label. | Do not treat the blend as a single-ingredient spice or infer undisclosed proportions. |
| Gift or spice set | Set identity, selected spice-count option, named member products and observation date. | Retain the member list under the selected set size; do not use the set’s spice count as a package weight. |
| Spice Club subscription | Subscription identity, selected cadence and terms stated on the offer page. | Keep recurring frequency and subscription conditions distinct from a one-time item purchase. |

## Keep origin, ingredients and product labels together

The Sultan Sesame Seeds page shows why product identity should stay attached to its source wording. The page checked September 30, 2026 names a 2.6 oz glass jar, states the origin as Çanakkale, Turkey, lists “Sesame Seeds (Sesamum indicum)” and “Contains Sesame,” and displays tasting notes and product labels. Treat these as claims on this item’s page; they do not establish every lot’s traceability, a safety guarantee, or a certification scope beyond what the source documents.

| Sultan Sesame Seeds field | Source-published example | How to interpret it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Origin | Çanakkale, Turkey. | Keep the named region and product URL together; do not generalize it to another product or infer lot-level verification. |
| Ingredient and allergen | Sesame Seeds (Sesamum indicum); Contains Sesame. | Preserve the common/botanical wording and allergen statement exactly; a missing statement is not an assurance. |
| Tasting notes | Cream Top • Tahini • Mixed Nuts. | Retain as brand-assigned descriptive phrases, not as a standardized sensory score. |
| Processing and labels | The page describes raw, unhulled sesame and displays Raw, Non-Irradiated, Non-GMO and Kosher labels. | Keep each label attached to this product page; do not turn a label into an independent certification claim. |
| Package | Glass Jar 2.6 oz. | Store the selected container and amount with this exact product and observation. |

## Read spice format and package amount literally

The All Spices catalog separates format filters from a product’s own processing and package details. Its current Format filters include Whole, Ground and Blends. On the Sultan page, “raw” and “unhulled” describe the sesame product while “Glass Jar 2.6 oz” identifies the package shown. Those fields answer different questions and should not be collapsed into a single format or converted into an assumed bulk quantity.

| Field | Burlap & Barrel example | Record boundary |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Catalog format | Current All Spices filters include Whole, Ground and Blends. | Keep the catalog filter label and the page where it appeared; a filter is not a complete product description. |
| Processing language | The Sultan page describes the seeds as raw and unhulled and also displays a Raw label. | Preserve descriptive copy and displayed labels as separate source fields. |
| Container and amount | The selected Sultan option is a glass jar labeled 2.6 oz. | Keep package type, number/amount and unit together; do not transfer them to another option. |
| Set count | Current gift pages offer spice-count options such as 6-spice and 36-spice sets. | Spice count describes a selected set option; it is not the weight or size of one jar. |

## Preserve the catalog’s flavor, cuisine and use vocabulary

Checked September 30, 2026, the All Spices catalog grouped products by Spice Type, Format, Dietary Preferences, Cuisine, Uses, Flavor Profile and Heat Level. These source taxonomies can support assortment analysis, but their labels are not standardized sensory measurements, ingredient statements, medical advice or proof of a certification. Record the taxonomy name and exact value shown for the selected product.

| Catalog facet | Examples currently shown | Do not infer |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Spice Type and Format | Spice Type includes groupings such as Blends, Herbs and Salt & Pepper; Format includes Whole, Ground and Blends. | That one facet fully describes a product’s ingredients or processing. |
| Flavor Profile and Heat Level | Flavor labels include Bright & Tart, Earthy, Floral, Smoky and Umami/Savory; heat labels include No Heat, Mild, Medium and Hot. | A universal flavor score or a numeric heat measure such as a Scoville value. |
| Cuisine and Uses | Cuisine includes regional groupings; Uses includes Baking & Pastry, Rubs & Marinades, Salads & Dips, and other cooking contexts. | The spice’s farm origin or an exclusive/recommended use. |
| Dietary Preferences | Labels include Kosher, Salt-Free, Sugar-Free, Vegan, Garlic-Free Blend, Onion-Free Blend and Wild-Grown. | A full allergen assessment or third-party certification unless the product page supplies evidence and scope. |

## Store spice-set membership by option and observation date

Burlap & Barrel’s set pages offer several selectable sizes, and the set count does not identify the exact member list by itself. On the pages checked September 30, 2026, Origin Blends offered 6-spice and 9-spice options; The Complete Collection offered 36-, 48- and 60-spice options. The Origin Blends page also warns that small-batch bundles may include substitutions of similar value. Save the selected option, listed members and that substitution note together rather than treating a set as a fixed SKU list.

| Set page | Option shown on the page checked | How to preserve membership |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Origin Blends Collection | 6-spice set and 9-spice set. | Record the chosen count and its listed members; retain the similar-value substitution notice and review date. |
| The Complete Collection | 36-spice, 48-spice and 60-spice options. | Keep each selected option and its own member list; do not derive one option’s contents from another. |
| Member spice or blend | Named item with its own origin, ingredients, process and package fields when the source lists them. | Keep the member record linked to its parent set without treating the set as one compound product. |
| Subscription | A recurring spice offer is a separate subscription with its stated delivery frequency. | Do not mistake a recurring cadence for set membership or a one-time package size. |
