## Match a Taobao item by its selected specifications, not only its title

Taobao's platform agreement tells buyers to check product name, price, quantity, model, specifications and dimensions before ordering. Keep the source page and the exact option state together so similar titles do not become false matches.

## Keep a displayed amount tied to its option and promotion conditions

Record what the page displayed and the state in which it appeared. An amount shown before options are selected is not evidence that every option costs the same; a promotion shown on a listing is not proof of a buyer's checkout total or eligibility.

## Treat Taobao search position as a dated, multi-factor result

Taobao's seller-service agreement says display and search ordering may reflect price, sales, inventory, reputation, brand, service, compliance, user preferences, search habits and competitiveness. A captured position describes one query and time, not a direct sales count or a stable popularity score.

## Check current permission before automated Taobao access

Taobao's Legal Statement, effective 7 October 2026, restricts unauthorized acquisition or use through robots, crawlers, automated programs/devices and simulated user operations. It separately states that third-party automated programs may not access, call or operate Taobao services without prior explicit written permission and a security/compliance assessment. Review the posted terms and the permission that applies to the specific source and workflow.
